Yongle decided to began its construction in 1406 A.D which took 14 years to complete. A large number of workers and artist were involved in the construction i.e. approx. 1 million. It is covered by 6 meter inside and 52 meter wide moat and outer is 3,400 meters long and 10 meters high. Its total area is approximately 74 hectares and has 800 buildings inside with more than 9,000 rooms. It is undoubtedly a must see place for all the art and craft lovers.

UNESCO has declared it as the largest preserved wooden structure on earth and is rated as World Heritage Site. It will be very difficult and time taking to visit the whole palace.
